i wander around san francisco. it's always amazing to me because as i wander around san francisco i'll see something or experience something that has come as a result of the most open, the most directed, and the most people-sensitive government anywhere in this world. and it comes as a result of two extraordinary people who gave their lives so that we can enjoy, and enjoy we must. thank you. office up and running here with san francisco data. so, it's great to be able to do that. just one note of caution of how do you prevent kind of third-party data integrators from owning that data. i think jay was talking about it earlier on. it's just a note of caution for you guys. >> how do we prevent vendors from holding the data? >> yes. >> we're still working on this piece with our legal department. we're looking to do and this is very exploratory right now, really looking at the contracting process itself and how we can use that as a mechanism. basically we want to do business with you if you're willing to share your data. as jay mentioned we don't want to be held hostage. we don't want our data to be held hostage to the companies. as we figure this out, we'll continue going about it and providing updates. yeah, i think that there's actually a lot of companies out there that are being powered right now with our open data program. so, if there's any that aren't represented here today, please let us know. we would love to feature y

his grandmother, an artist, had a number of paintings at the old mint in san francisco. they reflected scenes from that part of california. he took us down there and proudly showed us her work. although he traveled the world his family was always in his thoughts. california was always his home. what i will most remember about chris is how thoughtful he was and how people were drawn to him. chancellor wu wrote when chris was appointed ambassador, friends, professional acquaintances contacted me to encourage me to reach out to him. he was so well thought of. i sent a hand-written card and to my surprise he returned the correspondence with his own handwritten note. that would be very much like chris. he appreciated and enjoyed interactions with people. in fact, our friend chris highland put it very eloquently when he said, chris was the finest among us. more than his obviously charms, he was a man of substance and humility. at parties, dinners and gatherings he spent little times talking about himself and his accomplishments. only when he was forced to. instead he asked peo

just two years after having moved back to san francisco, but more than any shared any in politics the bond that we had, and that i saw him form with so many other members of our group and in other parts of his life was built on true friendship and caring. with milton there was no pretense. he was just real, and the friendship was based on true desire for connection. when i think of milton many different things come to mind. his smile, his thoughtfulness, the dinner parties at his house, his old apartment on seventh avenue, trying out new recipes and getting to meet friend who is are here today, his integrity at all timeses, his genuineness, his love for his three boys, his immense respect devotion to his father and respect for his mother and how he lived after he became ill each additional day with his family and friends was a blessing. one of my strongest memories is from his wedding day. i have been to many weddings including my own, and the only time can actually remember the words of the o officialant was from that day and the rabbi, may he rest in peace, said profound things at t
